Psalm 11: you’ve got to stand for what’s right, and let God sort it out
I have to once again admit the applicability of this current psalm to my situation, in particular the following verse: “For look, the wicked are drawing their bows, fitting their arrows to the string to shoot honest men from the shadows.” The good thing is that I can also rely on these verses: “In Yahweh I have found refuge,” and “Yahweh examines the upright and the wicked,” and “For Yahweh is upright and loves uprightness, the honest will ever see His face.”
As pointed out in the NJB footnotes for one of the previous psalms, it’s not that I can see God’s face if I’m upright and honest - none of us can do that before the return of our Lord Jesus Christ and our ascension to heaven - that is, if we pass the Final Judgment. It’s that my prayers can reach Him, and I can say that with a straight face.
Personally, I can say that I’m blameless in the circumstances affecting me at the moment, which I’d rather not discuss here. Let’s just say that I have tried to be as straightforward and clear as possible, yet there are people who are doing things behind my back, and they’re not good things… According to the promises made in this psalm, it’s not going to work for them! It simply won’t, because God’s “eyes watch over the world, His gaze scrutinizes the children of Adam.” I “have found refuge” in Him, and I’m not going to “flee”. I’m going to stand for what’s right, and let God sort it out.
And that’s the important thing to take from this. If you find yourself in a similar situation, where you know you’ve been doing the right thing, yet are under fire, stand for what’s right! Don’t back down even an inch. Keep doing what you’re doing, and let God sort things out.
